VENUE
The Perth Convention Exhibition Centre is centrally located in the heart of the city and can cater for up to 5,000 delegates. The state-of-the-art, three-level venue is Western Australia’s only purpose-built convention, exhibition and meeting venue.
Its major facilities include:
• Six exhibition pavilions;
• A 2,500-seat tiered auditorium;
• 19 specialist meeting rooms, varying in size; and
• Grand ballrooms, with spectacular views of Perth’s
sparkling Swan River.
The Perth Centre’s leading edge facilities and services provide flexibility for organisers to stage an event of any nature.
Advanced technology...
The Perth Centre houses some of the most advanced technical facilities and communications infrastructure in Australia. The venue boasts intelligent acoustic design to shield external noise in line with international benchmark standards.
The auditorium supports amplified sound for major speaker presentations, while the ballroom, meeting rooms and exhibition pavilions have each been acoustically designed for a range of uses, with particular focus on functionality and flexibility.
The Perth Centre is managed by a specialist convention and exhibition team, from the Spotless Group . Spotless is a specialist provider of services to business, government and industry throughout the world.
Support facilities...
Facilities for event organisers and delegates include a business centre, green room, organisers’ office suites, cloakrooms, VIP room, media room and cafe. Office areas and cafes are also featured within each of the six pavilions.
When breaking from proceedings, the Perth Centre’s Internet café, Velluto is available for informal business meetings and light meals, as well as Internet access. While adjacent to the venue, the Metro Bar and Bistro is open for breakfast and dinner daily.
Breathtaking views...
The Perth Centre’s 300-metre long, floor-to-ceiling glass foyer, across all three levels, features expansive pre-function and foyer areas providing panoramic city and Swan River views.
Stunning design...
The $220 million Perth Centre was designed by a team of Western Australia’s leading architects, engineers and builders, including The Cox Group, Arup and Multiplex respectively. The venue’s design capitalises on its unique riverside location, while providing a critical business link direct to Perth’s city centre for delegates and visitors.
As well as capturing the flow of Perth’s stunning Swan River, the design incorporates colours unique to Western Australia, including rich ochres of the natural environment. Internally, the impressive floor-to-ceiling glass foyer creates a seamless link between all of the venue’s major rooms and facilities.
Making a contribution ...
Opened in August 2004, it is expected that the new Perth Centre will generate $2.2 billion into Western Australia's economy in its first decade of operation and create 2,600 new jobs. Industry statistics show that, in 1996 dollar terms, an international convention delegate spends approximately $600 per day when in Australia.
Suppliers to the Perth Centre can expect a boost in business, while businesses in many industries will record increased earnings. Delegates' dollars will go to hotels, restaurants, transport, retail outlets, cinemas and theatres, sporting and cultural events and tourist attractions. These delegates are considered to be Western Australia's "super tourists".
